I’m sick of seeing it especially during a pandemic , everyone wants you to make money today and quick. If you don;t have 7 streams of income you my friend are slacking (according to google university) . Making money is always great , I encourage you to find streams of income that suit you. But most importantly I encourage you to find purposeful streams of income.

This income can be your very own purposeful side hustle. Here’s the thing,  anybody can make money but ,as for me I don’t want to feel scammy about my streams of income. I desire my income to reflect my morals ,values and beliefs that feel good to me. I can’t do anything for long  if I am not passionate about it , it's just not how I am wired. The hardest part for me when I decided to become a certified life and success coach was FINDING THE TIME while working full time.

I knew I wasn’t going to embrace a “sleep is for suckas “ lifestyle even though I did get sucked into it at the very start of my coaching business. I no longer feel the need to sacrifice sleep for purpose. If I am walking in purpose if God has given me purpose I don't need to sacrifice wellness to achieve it. This shift didn't happen naturally or effortlessly but here are three things I did learn that have helped me sustain and build my purposeful side hustle.

1. I had to Define my  version of success. I had to decide that success looked different from my coach's version of success. Imposter syndrome was reall! I wasted valuable time on trying to make my business look like hers. I did embrace that sleep is for suckas lifestyle because I was chasing after something that wasn;t for me.  At the start of my journey , I didn;t know how I was going to get everything done so I did have to hire outside help for content planning, branding and strategy planning.

Success for me looks like knowing when I need to ask for help and applying that help in my business so I can see a profit and attract the right clients.

2. I had to learn to Work smarter, not harder. Again having dark circles under my eyes from this hustle all day was not the portion God declared for my life. So I had to figure out how to work smarter, not harder. That meant using the time I did have to do what it is I needed to get done in my coaching business. I had to realize I physically couldn't do it all and had to make conscious decisions to this day to prioritize what I should get done and what I may need to delegate.  I say this all the time. There is no such thing as work life balance… it doesn't exist.

You will forget and you will overlook things that happen but , what you can do is just be a little bit better than you were the day before.

3. I had to do the inner work.. Ahhh very easily said. I’ve shared before I didn’t think about being a life coach , I honestly wanted to improve my personal development and limiting beliefs of fear and self doubt. I wanted to work on myself first and when I heard about Neuro Linguistic Programming I was like yes sign me up! Let’s get rid of negative thinking ! I chose to work on me first. Building my business from the inside out is how I am here today to even write this blog. I realized very early , that my business won't be successful because I  just wanted it to be, I had to be  who I was  called to be, so I could do what I was  called to do. I had to   Create new habits to fuel my  mission and impact.

Defining my version of success, choosing to work smarter and not harder and doing the inner work is the key foundation for how I built and how I;ve sustained my purposeful side hustle. By no means are things more perfect , in fact they aren’t . However, things are more manageable when you are aligned and clear about who you are and the purpose behind your side hustle.
